This is the completed restored victorian panel that came into the workshop a bit worse for wear. It had broken pieces and a build up of dirt and gloss paint around the edges. It was removed from its frame and resized slightly with a new border where a previous restoration had added some pieces that didn't match. The panel was gently and carefully cleaned and is now ready for the owner who is going to be put it into a light box.
Here's a shot of a newly installed window for a home that had the opportunity to create a stunning feature on the stairway. The design, using my saplings motif, makes the most of the natural light by using beautifully textured hand blown and rolled glass that catch and manipulate the light.
There's only two more dates available for my stained glass courses. Due to needing more space in the workshop and keeping my commissioned workflow going I'll be resting my courses for a while so it's the last opportunity to book a place on the remaining dates!
STAINED GLASS TASTER DAY - Friday 16th June - £120
The stained glass taster day serves as an introduction to the techniques of stained glass. You will have a go at cutting glass and assembling a small panel to take home with you. There's only 4 places on a course so there's plenty of one to one time.
2 DAY STAINED GLASS COURSE - Thursday 18th & Friday 19th May - £240
The two day stained glass course offers a more in depth experience of how to make a stained glass panel. You will learn how to cut glass, draw a design, choose your colours, lead, solder, cement and clean. There's only 4 places on a course so there's plenty of one to one time.
The Lodge window was commissioned by The Cathedral School, Llandaff to commemorate the opening of the new building that houses the nursery and infant school.
The design was made in collaboration with the pupils and was developed after running a series of workshops with the pupils where we made drawings of leaves and seeds. The drawings were then collaged to make the final design into a tree form with the theme of nurture and growth.
I was very pleased to be awarded the 'Best Maker In Wales' award at this years Made By Hand in Cardiff. It was a real honour to receive the award at such a great show where all the work is of such a high standard. Many thanks to Sarah and the team for putting on such a great event. Looking forward to next year!

A great short film about making stained glass from the 1940's. To be honest nothing much has changed! I was put onto these films by a post by Simon in the Architectural Stained Glass Swansea group on Facebook. Thanks Simon!
Yesterday saw some new work installed for Ysgol Nant Talwg, a primary school in Barry, South Wales. The enamelled toughened glass units were made by Proto Studios in Wiltshire and are based on drawings and collage made with the pupils in workshops earlier in the year.
The strong colours look amazing in the space, it was great to see them in place and I'm looking forward to taking some photos when the building is finished!
I'm now running evening classes for beginners! The next 6 week block starts in September and is on Wednesday evenings 6-9pm. Click here for more info and to book. There's 2 places left!
Below are completed panels from Ceri, Brenda, Sue and Neil from the first evening class for beginners. There's some lovely glass choices and a great mix of designs!
At last I've got a new site on line! I've had a few problems with the old one and have been offline for a few months but I'm back! I'm still trying to get my blog entries transferred which hopefully I'll be able to do soon but I've got my stained glass, projects and courses all back in place with a shop coming online soon. Watch this space!
